چکیده
Abstract Tuta absoluta , an invasive pinworm characterized by high reproductive potential and adaptation to different agroecological conditions, cause serious damage tomato crops. Chemical control with synthetic insecticides is widely used this pest, although pesticides exhibit side effects on non-target organisms negatively impact the environment, occurrence of resistance some active substances in target pest. The use essential oils (EOs) from aromatic or officinal plants could represent environmentally safe method, alternative insecticide application. In work we investigated effect EOs Spanish oregano, laurel, basil, garlic, peppermint, cypress, eucalyptus T. oviposition deterrence larval repellency. Results showed a remarkable using garlic both laboratory greenhouse experiments. no-choice repellence tests carried 1, 2, 6, 22 h after treatment application, peppermint oregano most lasting while cypress were not effective 6 h, respectively. choice tests, at either 5 low preference for test over larvae was observed all treatments, except basil EO. promising laurel treatments where no detected. Repellent effectiveness does seem be influenced when did get chance do between treated untreated leaves. This study highlights as .

متن کاملInfestation Level Influences Oviposition Site Selection in the Tomato Leafminer Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)
The tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), is a devastating pest that develops principally on solanaceous plants throughout South and Central America and Europe. In this study, we tested the influence of three levels of T. absoluta infestations on the attraction and oviposition preference of adult T. absoluta. Three infestation levels (i.e., non-infested plants, plants infe...
متن کاملEncapsulation and Self-Superparasitism of Pseudapanteles dignus (Muesebeck) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), a Parasitoid of Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae)
Endoparasitoids can be killed by host encapsulation, a cellular-mediated host immunological response against parasitism that involves hemocytes aggregation. As a counteracting strategy, many parasitoids can evade this host response through self-superparasitism. The objectives of this study were: 1) to describe the parasitoid Pseudapanteles dignus (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) early immature stages ...
متن کاملEffect of two solanaceous plants on developmental and population parameters of the tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae).
Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is an important tomato pest that also feeds on other host-plants from the Solanceae family. We studied the effect of two cultivated plants, tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum Mill.) and potato Solanum tuberosum L. on the development and populational parameters of T. absoluta related with host-plant suitability. Larval developmental time, pupal weight, mean fecundity and an ...
متن کاملNeochrysocharis formosa (Westwood) (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), a newly recorded parasitoid of the tomato moth, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae), in Argentina.
We report the first record of Neochrysocharis formosa (Westwood) parasitizing larvae of the tomato moth, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick), in tomato crops in Northern Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. Tomato moth larvae were sampled during four consecutive growing cycles, between 2003 and 2005, in 10 sites. Neochrysocharis formosa was present only in organic outdoor and protected crops, and predominantl...
